   Homework 2017-18

2017-18 Field Trip

Dear Parents,

Our Museum of Natural History field trip is quickly approaching!   We wanted to give you a heads up on what to expect. If you have any questions at all, please let us know.

On Wednesday, May16th, ALL KINDERGARTEN, AM and PM students will need to be at the school by 9:00 am.   We will be riding a school bus to the museum and leaving the school at 9:10 am.   We will require that the children be assigned to a specific parent and stay with that parent at ALL TIMES!

Students must be wearing the approved field trip uniform. They must be wearing navy blue or black pants/skirts/shorts and a white top.   Students should be wearing comfortable tennis shoes with the appropriate colored socks.  Students not in appropriate wear will not be allowed to accompany the group on the field trip.

Please note that this is a school field trip.   This means that part of the fun and learning of the field trip happens as the children learn and grow together. All students are our responsibility until we return to Hawthorn Academy.

Chaperones will be asked at the discretion of the teacher.  At this young of an age, it is important that the students know and feel comfortable around the accompanying adults.   Chaperones will be pulled from a group of parents who have been around the students and know the students by name. For the safety of your child, we want to make sure that each parent knows the children they are responsible for.   Please do not ask to be a chaperone; teachers will be asking. On the permission slip, you can let us know if you are available to help.

Admission to the museum is free for the kindergarten students.   There will be a cost for the bus ride. With the large amount of money that it costs to order the bus, we will be asking for a $5-$10 donation from children.   Please fill out the online permission slip, (on the website) and please send any donation in your child’s folder. A receipt will be given.

Students will be able to bring a sack lunch to eat during the field trip.   Please send your child to school with a sack lunch that day.   Their name should be very visible on their bag. Please also write your teacher’s name and Hawthorn Academy on it.  Please provide a peanut free lunch.  Your child will have only 20 minutes to eat, and any uneaten lunch will be thrown away. Do not send in any lunch boxes.  Everything will be tossed at the end of lunch.

Our museum adventure will end around 11:45 am.  We will load the buses and be back to Hawthorn Academy about 12:15 to eat lunch together. Please pick up your child at 12:30 pm.

All children not picked up by 12:45 pm will be sent to the office to call home.   Please be on time in picking up your child.

Please email your Kindergarten teacher if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Ms. M & Ms. Scott
